Welcome to Forest Lake
Welcome to Forest Lake, a community which encompasses a 42-acre private lake, offering dues-paying residents swimming, fishing, non-motorized boating and family-fun activities. Forest Lake is located in Lake County, Illinois, bordered on the north by Old McHenry Road and on the west by Quentin Road. The Forest Lake community was originally developed in 1935 by Arthur T. McIntosh Company and was intended to be a weekend retreat and getaway for Chicago residents. Today the summer cottages have either been upgraded or replaced by much larger year-round homes.
Forest Lake offers great recreation
Summer in Forest Lake brings swimmers to the lake’s three beaches, boaters cruising the lake at sunset, and Fourth of July neighborhood picnics. Winter, too, is enjoyed by residents as ice fishermen, skaters, and cross-country skiers frequent the ice.
Forest Lake is Managed by a Volunteer Homeowners' Association
The Forest Lake Community Association, established in 1935
by the handful of residents who had homes in Forest Lake at that time, has
continued until the present day.
Its elected 12-member board oversees the care and maintenance of the lake,
beaches, common grounds, and community center.
It also organizes children’s and family activities such as Breakfast with
Santa, the Halloween Parade, and the Ice Fishing Derby.
